The struggles of end semesters

With the tides of doom not far away, the small waves are trying to barge in at the gates of my foothold bridge. Alas end-semesters come with a drought of fun, but common sense prevails in our room and we continue to make merry as ever.
Not to say we are those kinds of person no work and all fun but still no fun makes a dull body. The serials are flowing like a bloodbath after a war, with Friends and Dexter right in the midst of things.
The novel discussions are a blessing at first but after a while turns into a chore like no other, where you love it but are doing it anymore just for the sense of  holding on to a little normality in your life.
Still the struggles are not seen by the higher-ups and they continue to pile on the workload till it seems like a tower treacherous with its monsters hiding behind every nook and corner.
However, we are foolhardy and unyielding and continue to face the world day after day without so much as a flinch. Its friendship and love that wins forever from the times of old and still carries on the wagon of the cycle. However, as Dexter says we are just a traveller with the dark passenger behind the wheels.

The Lost Remembrance

The memories of walking by shrouded in a blanket of love and belonging are so far faded away in this devil's place. When you are away from the ones you love, its like you are living half a life. You are never complete and you are on the verge of going off in a blaze of glory. Though after a while even the fire dims and slowly extinguishes till you don't even know yourself anymore. It seems like you are a bystander to it all and it all rushes by like a time travel experiment that failed.

There are times when you feel far away from the people near you, when you are living in the bygones of the ages that seems eons ago from the time you live in. If that's the feeling of growing up I loathe myself to think about growing up. Alas, those were the thoughts of a childhood's mind that didn't know much better and weren't that insightful. However this would remain the same for eons even after the end of the world as we know it. Perhaps therein lies the beauty of being a child, living the present and not having a care in the world for naught. There would come a day when I would be born ago. Hopefully, the perceptions of reality and truth would be much better than it today. Maybe then friendship wouldn't be based on superficiality but rather on the kind of person you are.

Probably this despair would diminish and eventually vanish, but that's the truth as I perceive as of today. Maybe the definition would change but the base remains the same.

I Will Come

This is self-made

I wanna move up the world and never stop
I wanna go on till I can
I don't wanna lose hope as I know
That you gonna fall for me

I will always come for you
And never stop till I die
I will come
I will always be there for you

I will come forever more
And never stop till I can
Let the world be in my path
I will always be there for you

I would lend you a shoulder when you cry
I could tell you the right thing to do
I won't stop till I die
Letting the world rip till I die

I will come, come, come
I will come for you

Manthan

Well, its been a long time since I last saw you guys.
Sorry for the wait but there were some problems with my network and then went home. Well, suffice it to say I just got lost in the day-to-day life.

This is just a recounting of a past event of my life that I hold very dearly.

A change to the political scenario has been long to come and Indian CAG http://indiancag.org/ has started on the warpath to this glory. Not a road overlain with roses by any way, it is the one with all the thorns and the monsters poised to strike at the moment they show even a trace of weakness. Well let of us help them in anyway we can, and show active support for the betterment. This is our country and we would dictate how it is to governed, not some cheats and murderers.

Goodness knows, the media has started working in a better fashion with more and more cases coming to light. It would be quite stupid to say that the scams and rapes didn't happen before the 21st century, but most of them were suppressed and never saw the light of the day. People say that Bihar is the most crime-dense state in India, but actually it shows that the police are doing a good job and people aren't scared to come to the front and speak out. Agreed there are states with low crime-rate and in reality low crimes too, the first and foremost that comes to my mind is Gujarat.

In all my dealings with the political world, the two leaders that come across the best to me are Narendra Modi and Nitish Kumar. Those two are my dream team, and if joined would make India a world dominator as were in the days of history that is seldom remembered except in the books.

Haha, ROFLMAO!!!
Here I was supposed to write about the Manthan event, but goodness knows I can't stop once i begin.

With an exam on 1st and the next on 3rd, we were not that confident about attending the event. On 2nd October, the auspicious day of the birth of one of the nation's greatest leaders, Mahatma Gandhi, (a tidbit for the metal lovers, also the birth of Jim Root of Slipknot), the event was to be hosted. However, with the support and urging of my dear and loving father, who has supported me always. Me and Dipanshu went to attend the event.

Let me tell you, it was an opportunity not to be missed. We thoroughly enjoyed it. From the trip in the sleeper class where Dipanshu who was traveling in sleeper class for the first time wasn't comfortable to say the least and i slept like a baby. Then the stay in the hotel Ivory Palace, where we had a rest for some time and clicked a lot of pics just having fun. Well the event was supposed to start at 8, but some of friends who were already present there told us that there was a way long line of participants. So being clever, we reached there at 11, and passed through the gates like a breeze and weren't late for a thing.

The event was well organized and hosted at Thyagaraj Stadium, New Delhi. The CAG team had pulled out all stops to make the event a success and let me tell you this happened in spades. Even, they had a well organized system of food. With the host being the ever-charming and pretty lady Mandira Bedi, it was bound to be a success. Most of my friends were going crazy over her. However what was monumental and still expected was the response when Narendra Modi walked into the premises. People were shouting out with joy, respect and admiration of the great leader in front of us.

Then started the event. A good speech that was interlaced with innuendos and direct confrontations was the one by the Former Union Minister Ram Jethmalani who instead of trying to become one of the youth, recognized that we were different and tried to understand us and told us what he thinks of the present scenario without a trace of fear. He spoke of his aging like its just a part of life and not something to be feared or tried to be forgotten about. He was totally confident in himself and it showed.

Sadly, I wasn't able to withstand the onslaught of that many presentations, and kept going out to have fun interacting with girls from other places. Also the panel discussions were a drag, as I am more a man of action and working along with the people I lead, so just couldn't stand those long discussions.

Then came the dance by Prince group and Fictitious group and let me tell you they were a whole new level. I thought the ones did by our college dance group was hard, but they took hard to a whole new level. Those were two dances I would remember the rest of my life. I am not much of a dance connoisseur myself, so probably wouldn't be able to comment that much, but suffice to say that they were AWESOME!!!
Then came the speech by our most likely to be PM and Gujarat's CM Narendra Modi. He told us his life story, it showed how he was just like us, down-to-earth. However, he was one of the few that raised a voice back against the oppression by the government. He is the candidate I would like to be seated upon the PM's chair, and not some other child-like person. Agreed that he may come across as Communal to many, but he is not for the making of rules to just benefit the Hindus. What many are not seeing are the blatant display of communism by the Congress, heralded as the leaders of the minority. One good example of the kind of propaganda that Congress supports is the PCTV BILL. NOW IS THIS WHAT IS CALLED SECULARISM????The synopsis of what it entails
For those who want to read the whole stated law
After all this why would a Hindu deign Hindustan, his homeland good enough to stay in. Still people say that we don't have any love for our country. Let me ask you should all of us be fearless idiots and abide by all the stupid laws that are tried to be made. Many of us would like to live without the constant fear of being raised a finger upon wrongly and still not be able to do anything against it. Maybe a day will come when Hindus are disbarred from holding office as a minister or even an MLA, and not to be able to raise a voice against. In this state of the country, it wouldn't be long before there are mass massacres of Hindus, and others are able to go without any repercussion for it, in the name of Anti-Communism. AND THEY ACCUSE US OF BEING SEDUCED BY THE FOREIGN LIFE!!! THOSE BASTARDS!!!

Well anyways I had my moment of unwinding. We came back by train, mostly unprepared for the exam, and gave it without any preparation or fear for the result.

What is Codathon

Apologies to anyone who gave the CODATHON Manipal competition due to my blog.
It is a very badly implemented system, difficult to navigate through.
Sometimes the code that has been pre-written to edit in, contains more errors, and I probably spent most of the first day's time looking for a fault in my code, while it was actually in theirs.
Questions are below the par, and the acceptance is probably at random, as the same code gets accepted sometimes and sometimes not.
Also if you lose connection in between and refresh, you lose all your progress for that attempt.

After this farce, Manipal should realize that, unless you know how to conduct a competition, and have people dedicated to it, you shouldn't actually try to run one.

Codechef first top 10

Woah!!!
Achieved my first top 10 in Codechef competition.
The competition was Clash Credenz 2013 http://www.codechef.com/CLASH13/
The three problems solved by me were
1.BALANCE IT OUT(just a case of precomputation)
2.THE AMAZING RACE (more of a logical question than much hard). You have to recognize the numbers closest to the middle.
3.SNYDER MAN (A pure maths application). Though seriously speaking the logic I developed was taken to be wrong by both me and my roommate, but surprisingly it worked. Just make a equation of the final height, and you are done.
4. Sadly though missed on MUSIC MAN by a single error in my logic. :-(

Well the next two competitions fast approaching are:
Both start on 6th September 2013

Best of luck to all who participate :-) \m/

Google Is Life

The dependence on Google came to light on 16th August. The service from Google was disrupted for 5 min from 4:22 AM to 4:27 AM. Many couldn't believe it, and first tried to check their internet connection, rather than thinking that, Google may be down. Twitter reported a flurry of activity in just those 5 mins, concerning the disruption of service. The report from GoSquared's real-time tracking recorded a huge dip of 40% in global page views. The estimated time for continuation of service was 10:37. However Google with its awesome engineers came back in just 5 mins. Now that's what's called fast-service.

Some of the outrageous tweets can be seen on: http://www.zdnet.com/google-services-go-down-internet-panics-7000019516/

Foundation Day

Whew!!! What an amazing event. The start was a little slow and redundant with the scholarships being distributed. Therefore, most of us owing to the air-conditioned auditorium and sofa seats, just plain fell off asleep. Well our black hard invigorating coffee wasn't that far away. Thank you Shiva and Shishir for making the awesome video that lightened us up like a light bulb: Effervescence Video. However, what was really sad, was replacement of NFS MW with Split Second. The hall was brimming to the top and pretty hot(if you know what I mean), and all of us enjoyed it. Then came the drama of the Second Year, and did they rock it. They totally blew our minds away with their performance. The most special mention goes out to Gaurav. Buddy, never knew you were such an awesome actor. You deserve a commendation for it.

Why I Hate Apple

Well many of my friends know that I am a serious hater when it comes to Apple products. Today I tell you the reasons for my being so:

  • To take what was originally free, then modifying it and selling it for far more than ethical. They are a ripoff of the Linux, and undermine the work of Linus Torvalds.
  • Agreed that, Apple started to combat the anti-trust issues of Microsoft. However, the iTunes upgrades have led many to downgrade their software. Now, is this what is called freedom? Is this the freedom we so deeply desire?
  • Well, the iTunes now doesn't have any support for other MP3 players. This is simply to reduce competitors. Now this has led to stagnation in media players by other companies. Think for a moment if any OS only allowed its own developed media player to be connected, what would be the outcry. So why is Apple being allowed free rule over our rights?
  • The Apple app store has draconian policies. After we have already paid a huge amount for the iPhone, we have to pay a huge lot of bucks to get an app. Also every app needs to be Apple authorized to even work, without rooting the phone. Again an example of how Apple is allowed free rule. This has led to many starting app developers to die out before even properly starting.
  • Another case of breach of ethics is not allowing other browsers to work on their systems. Now aren't the consumers enabled enough to decide for themselves what is best? We already have fast browsers like Opera, Chrome and Firefox available in the mobile world, and are better than Safari. So, are they that petty, that they are afraid of the competition?
  • Apple is under investigation for blockage of Google Voice from their app store. It wouldn't be far-fetched to assume that they may make up their own version of Facebook app, that you may have to pay for.
  • Also, the apple products are ridiculously delicate, to the point of where they have to be treated as diamonds. Now, is this what we pay for? There may come times, where some accident may happen, and the phone may break. Well, you are in luck if you are under warranty, hey have a policy of no questions asked. (Huge plus) However, if you aren't, you are literally condemned. The screen is not that easily available in the local markets, and the service centers take a fortune to fix up your phone.
  • The updates also cost out of your pockets. Well lets see, we have played games, used Android, Blackberry and Windows phones, used other software. None of these have ever asked us for a dime, after we have bought them, so what makes Apple so high-headed, that they believe they have the right to?
Well now you know, why I hate Apple so much. :-P

Placement IIIT-Allahabad 2013

The placement season of IIIT-Allahabad has started with a bang. With parties being thrown by the seniors every other day, it is quite true that the college is making a name for itself among the country's top elite institutes such as IITs and NITs. The most favorite company of all software engineers to work for, i.e. Facebook, has already taken two people from our colleges, and its just the starting. The coding culture here is one unbeatable force, and is probably more helpful than anything else in the name of the college.

Summer vacations

Summer Vacations

Well, 2 months away from my college, and i started to get bored the 2nd week. I got an internship for developing a webpage in ASP.Net. It was awesome and made me a learn a lot. Though the database entry of 600 people was a little tedious. Then cam the time many of my friends returned home too, and it was heaven.

Going on night drive on bike everyday, stopping at bridges, and you know what....

Then came the time to go on a visit to Diu. The calmest beach i have seen in India, and I have been to Mumbai, Goa, and a lot of southern beaches. 6 of us went out there to party, we hired scootys(for anyone who doesn't  know, they are scooters without gear shifts), and drove at breakneck speeds most of the time. We sometimes went out at 12 to Diu Fort, just sat down and talked, and sometimes went out to eat. Though, the hotel we stopped at provided awesome and cheap food. It was a time to catch up and make new friends, as I only knew 3 of them, 1 of the other 3, became a very good friend. Well, many of you know what else happens in beaches. However what happens in Diu, stays in Diu (*winks). Then a bus journey back, where 3 people slept in the space of two, and man, was it cramped up. The bumps really broke our backs.

However, it was near time to get back to my college, but left home with happy memories. Now 1 month in college, but still remember those happy moments spent in Diu.

Well another thing, have gotten really close to the girl I like, and would propose her the next time we meet. We have already agreed to go out, so maybe she would say yes, but who knows. Lets hope it goes the way I like.

Adios fellas, see you next time!!!
